To Our Guests,

The Maple Lawn Hotel wishes to acquaint its old friends, patrons and those cosmopolites seeking a serene alternative from the bristling rigors of city life now that the 'Summer Season' has been lengthened. Our season commences with an attractively priced Mother's Day Weekend and climaxes when the autumnal foliage flares into an array of colors and begins dappling the Hotel's lawn on Columbus Day Weekend.

That old adage "You can't turn back the clock," stops at the threshold of the Maple Lawn Hotel. Over the years, the turn-of-the-century hotel has established its own personal brand of hospitality and culinary expertise which, we're proud to say, is "Old World." A healthy breath away, the captivating beauty of unspoiled mountains rises in grandeur. This masterpiece of nature will please the most discriminating taste. With trails upon which to tread, murmuring pine forests and gurgling mountain streams where the rainbow trout swim, you'll find no more salubrious environment anywhere. The montain trails are marked by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. While the old hotel remains untouched by the package tour dealers, our prices are quietly below expectation.

A warm congenial atmosphere awaits the hotel's clients in the dining room. Epicurean palates will delight in the gastronomical cuisine prepared in the hotel's kitchen -- all done with an eye toward a health conscious society. Attentive service and platters of plentiful Italian fare are but some of the distinctive differences in the Maple Lawn dining facilities. Our relaxed dining atmosphere is unequaled anywhere. The weekly menu is comprised of well known Northern Italian dishes including antipasto with a wide array of salami and prosciutto, bracciole of beef, roast veal, Chicken Cacciatora, Ossi Bucci, Risotto alla Piemontese, Veal Marsala Scaloppine al Marsala, and the piéce de resistance of pasta: home made ravioli. Also freshly made in the hotel's kitchen is a delectable gnocchi with pesto or a seasoned sauce of choice. Apart from the commonplace in culinary fare are such dishes as bollito misto, polenta, and frittata. A different soup is served each day, from Minestrone Genovese to Stracciatella alla Romana. Our American dishes include prime rib, leg of lamb, broiled chicken, New York strip steak and fillet of sole. Desserts include the traditional hotel favorite, caramel custard, along with sherbert, ice cream, puddings, pies and cakes fresh from the oven.

The cocktail lounge at the Maple Lawn contains a quantity of liquors, wines, and beer, both domestic and imported. Your favorite libation could had at the bar or while dining.

For the energetic vacationer, there is a filtered pool, regulation-sized tennis court with lighting for night play, shuffleboard, bocce, horse-shoes, badminton and ping pong. A challenging par 72 golf course, bowling and horse-back riding are within walking distance.

Followers of chanceful endeavors will find an O.T.B. theater minutes away while, during the Month of August, the thoroughbreds return to Saratoga, home to the National Museum of Racing. Throughout the year, trotters and pacers circle the night track at Saratoga, while in the afternoon during August polo matches are held. The Saratoga Performing Arts Center gives culture and entertainment a running chance against the horses, with classical and pop music. The New York City Opera and Ballet ensure a full card of summer programming at the Center. More locally, the Hunter Mountain Festival season runs throughout the summer. Children will delight in the many species of animals at the nearby Catskill Game Farm, Howe Caverns and the Baseball Hall of Fame at Cooperstown. There are simply enough attractions to last many summers, let alone one at the Maple Lawn Hotel.

We operate on the American Plan with three hot meals a day, but a European Plan can also be arranged. We hope to have the pleasure of serving you this coming season.
